Vanessa Reyes, PhD, (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Library Science Program at East Carolina University. She has over 15 years of experience working across diverse cultural and information institutions. Dr. Reyes holds a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from Simmons College and an M.S. in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University.
Her research examines the emerging field of personal information management (PIM), exploring how individuals organize, manage, and preserve digital information. Through her work, Dr. Reyes contributes to preserving digital heritage and addresses the pressing need for personal information tools that support users as they age. She is also experienced in personal and family archiving and documentation practices, facilitating how individuals and communities can safeguard their stories and histories for future generations.
Dr. Reyes has recently published key works, including An information behaviour exploration of personal and family information and curation of our life histories and Conversations on Cultural Heritage: Confirming the Family Home as an Archive. Her scholarship encompasses topics such as cultural heritage, knowledge sharing, and mediated memories.
