Andrew Firestone is currently completing his final semester in the Graduate School of Library & Information Studies at Queens College (CUNY), pursuing a Master’s Degree with a Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials. After completing his undergraduate degree in American Studies, he continued pursuing archival research, gaining experience working as a freelance research assistant. For the past nine years he has volunteered with grassroots organizations in New York City, focusing on communications and collaboratively developing community archiving practices. He is currently interning with Queens Neighborhoods United (QNU), working on their Oral History & Archive Project, getting hands-on experience with digital migration and preservation work. His research interests include information literacy, community archives and the history of social movements in the U.S.
