Austin Coming Together (ACT) is a coalition of over 50 nonprofit, faith-based, public, and private organizations working collaboratively to improve education and economic development in Chicago’s Austin community. Since its inception in 2010, ACT has utilized a collective impact model to address systemic challenges, including poverty, crime, and economic disparity, by fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Guided by its “Austin Forward. Together.” quality-of-life plan, ACT focuses on seven key areas, such as education, housing, and economic development, implementing over 45% of the plan’s 84 outlined actions. Initiatives like the Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation and Austin Eats illustrate ACT’s commitment to building local capacity, fostering resilience, and attracting investment, contributing to over $131 million in new community investments.
