Queens Neighborhoods United (QNU) is a grassroots collective made up of members from Jackson Heights, Corona, and Elmhurst. QNU believes in establishing community control over land-use, policing, and immigration policies that directly impact us and displace us, our families, homes, businesses, places of work, and neighborhoods. Through grassroots organizing, leadership development, advocacy, and community education, QNU builds power to fight criminalization and displacement in our communities.

In 2014, Queens Neighborhoods United (QNU) began organizing against the expansion of a Business Improvement District (BID) – a public- private partnership that fuels gentrification. If expanded, it would have been the largest BID in New York City at the time. After four years of organizing, the expansion was halted, a first in the history of New York City. In May 2017, developers bought a parcel of land on 82nd Street, located in an existing BID in Queens, for $27 million and signed a lease with Target for 15 years.
